Fremantle YHA is located in a handy location in Fremantle City Centre, which is handy for the railway station, shops, bars and the famouse Fremantle cafe scene.
Facilities
The facilities at Freo YHA could be so much better than they are. To call this hole rambling is an insult to any old hostel that is actually rambling! The rooms are small, dark and dingy. There are two kitchens which are just about adequate but has the usual problem of small fridges.
The common area outdoors is ok but it is taken over but the huge contingent of long termers who infest this hostel and treat it with little respect.
The bathrooms are small and often busy.
Friendliness
This hostel is only friendly if you intend to stay here for months on end like many of the inhabitants do. The long termers are generally of the young and poorly educated type, who spend their nights drinking, making lots of noise and having no respect for any other guests.
The long termers act with a great deal of hostility to anyone passing through. The staff are not friendly either, no doubt warn down by the endless gap year students and lowlife who plonks themselves here for months on end. Sex in dorms is a common occurance and adds to the lack of respect.
Finally
This is the worst YHA hostel and the sooner it loses it's YHA affiliation the better. Its is not fit for intelligent travellers - go elswhere 1/10.
